Reunited… And It Feels So Good

What a show; everyone I’ve spoken to was totally blown away. I’m still firing on all cylinders, even a few that I didn’t even know I had anymore! I saw so many smiles Friday night, so many people genuinely happy to see each other.I only wish I could’ve stopped by Abilene to spend more time with everyone. But by that time my knees and feet were in need of hydrotherapy (too much dancing and bopping around trying to say hi to everyone!)

It’s hard to say without sounding too sappy, but one of the things I took away from my Scorgies days was a sense of community, I felt like I belonged there. Getting together with everyone at the German House re-affirmed that. While it’s been said that “you can never go back” that doesn’t mean you can’t have some fun trying to.

At the end of the show, someone grabbed me and asked me “Did I hear you right, did you say this is was the first Scorgies reunion?” when I replied that I had indeed said that; she replied “good! That’s what I hoped you said!” All I can say is that if Tom, Vanessa, John and the hard working BopArts crew want to do this again, I’ll be on board!

Check out some more photos after the jump:

Great class photo, eh?

It wouldn’t have been much of a Scorgies reunion without New Math and Cousin Al fans Lynne and Mary…

Everybody who remembers Radio One on WRUR was excited to meet Rock and Roll Joel! He was quite surprised when he found out how many people remember him. Note: if anyone has a tape of his interview with the Cramps, he’d like a copy!

Mike Marchese, Chaz Lockwood and Greg Hassett

Mike Marchese, Cousin Chaz (Cousin Al, Invisible Party) and Large Marge (Koo Koo Boy) hanging around and havin’ fun. Chaz drove up from Baltimore (home to girlontheleft and Vic Tabinsky) for the gig, didn’t jump up on “Lust For Life.” However, Greg made it up there to pick up after after Cousin Ken “Cole” Stahl left the stage.

It was nice talking with you Friday night, Stan.

Wait, that’s right. I never saw you the entire night.

Anyway, I took – or I should say, my pal Willie and I – took about 90 pictures Friday night and even a few at Abilenes. Once I download them, I’ll see if any are suitable for framing and shoot them off to you to do with them what you wish.

I’m thinking, maybe an entire wall in your dining room.

We have made it safely back to South Carolina with only a 3 hour delay in Dulles and all I can really say at this time is…what a fucking blast that entire evening was. great job pulling it off.

Next time, do it in the summer when there will be at least a chance that the temps will be over 23.

Well, while we managed not to find each other Friday night, I made sure that Spevak spelled your name right and got the correct title for “Riverview Restaurant.”

The Woody Harrelson reference, however, was all his.

We sure could’ve used you on stage for “Lust for Life.” Next time, don’t be so shy!

Thanks for the contributions, the Laben wing is almost complete!

One song was more than enough. I still haven’t gotten my voice back – nothing to do with the singing, I’m, hoarse from all the talking with pretty much most of the 400 people on hand.

Spevak spelled the name right but missed with the song title. It’s understandable.

He was one fo the few people in the room that WASN’T around 25 years ago!

No matter…nothing could ruin the great time and 4 million laughs, handshakes and hugs from Friday night.

Let’s do it again in 25 years! I’m in.

Another thing you have in common with your long lost brother Mike… rich, luxurious hair… how do you keep it so manageable?

Great, Great Reunion. I wish I wasn’t so shy back then – because I recognized about 200 faces. At least I used to dance with everybody or pound my fist or a beer bottle on stage when New Math played. I wish I wore my button, too – New Math Adds Up! (If anyone wonders why I sat down for the show – it’s because of a nerve illness in my feet – I would have done my ska dance during “Older Women”, otherwise!).
