{"id":2027,"date":"2009-01-23T17:21:30","date_gmt":"2009-01-23T21:21:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/scorgies.com\/blog\/?p=2027"},"modified":"2009-01-23T17:21:30","modified_gmt":"2009-01-23T21:21:30","slug":"closing-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/scorgies.com\/blog\/?p=2027","title":{"rendered":"Closing Time&#8230;."},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"content\">\n<p>The last poster was kind enough to post a couple pics.\u00a0 In the post, it was mentioned that they weren\u2019t sure when Scorgies closed.\u00a0 For the record, it was July 9th, 1994.\u00a0 Technically it was about 4:30AM July 10th.<\/p>\n<p>I Was, sadly, the last person to exit the place and lock the doors for the last time.\u00a0 I was the last Manager of the vaunted Rochester social landmark known as Scorgies.\u00a0 Don walked out ahead of me, and I turned the key for the very last time.\u00a0 It was an extremely sad day for me, and this is really tough.\u00a0 I don\u2019t really feel like getting in to it right now, but sometime soon when I am in better spirits, and have more time\u2026I\u2019ll return and post some thoughts and stories.<\/p>\n<p>I was deeply saddened, when on November 21st at a dinner for my current job&#8230; that old Rochester bars came up.\u00a0 It started with a Wayne County fellow mentioning the old Dolphin out in Sodus Point.\u00a0 When I mentioned the good-old days of Scorgies, I was told of the big article in the paper and the upcoming reunion.\u00a0 That was Friday Nov. 21st at 9pm.\u00a0 That weekend I went online, and much to my chagrin\u2026I found this site.<\/p>\n<p>This pained me beyond words.\u00a0 My wife and some close friends witnessed me moping for days.\u00a0 You see, every 6 months for the past decade, I do a Google search for \u201cScorgies\u201d.\u00a0 And you rarely find anything of substance related to our old haunt.\u00a0 I do it b\/c there is one period of my life I reallllly wish I had more connection to.\u00a0 More old pics, old memoribilia, etc.\u00a0 For some reason, I collected little, and took even fewer pics.\u00a0 A lesson I learned that following year in 95.\u00a0 And from 95 on, I am a total picture nut.\u00a0 You usually won\u2019t find me far away from at the very least, a disposable camera or my cell camera.<\/p>\n<p>Anyways, somehow, in between the last time I had searched, and the weekend of NOV 21st\u2026.ALL OF THIS HAPPENED!!!\u00a0 And it pains me tremendously, that I missed this reunion.\u00a0 Was Tommy there?\u00a0 Did Don and Eileen attend?\u00a0 Did Shaff or Big Pat come out of the woodwork?\u00a0 How bout Charlie?\u00a0 Last I heard, he was in Atlanta.\u00a0 UGGGGGGGGGGGGH!!<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, I\u2019ll be back.\u00a0 Just typing this much has made me terribly melancholy.\u00a0 I miss Luke like you wouldn\u2019t believe, it was hard seeing his pic and reading your rememberances.\u00a0 I\u2019ll share a bunch of Luke memories, some Don stories, etc\u2026at a later date.<\/p>\n<p>How bout the infamous Elvis Costello story?!?!\u00a0 Has that made it\u2019s way on to the site anywhere?\u00a0 How about a copy of the famous Rolling Stone Article, from what, 1983?\u00a0 As part of my Google searches over the years I have attempted on multiple occasions to contact Rolling Stone to find the article, with no response.\u00a0 Hell, I\u2019ve even contacted Freetime about 3 times in the hopes of getting copies of Old Scorgies ads\u2026and no one ever gets back to me.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, please comment, and I will return!<\/p>\n<p>Ox<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The last poster was kind enough to post a couple pics.\u00a0 In the post, it was mentioned that they weren\u2019t sure when Scorgies closed.\u00a0 For the record, it was July 9th, 1994.\u00a0 Technically it was about 4:30AM July 10th.
