Paging Betsy Raunchette…

Word on the street is that Betsy Palmer of the Raunchettes is back in the Cortland area.  Noted Scorgies sound man Mark (Newj) Theobald was at the helm for their first single “Slaughter the Pig,” recorded at Dave Anderson’s Saxon Sound. I was fortunate (?) to have lived with the Raunchettes; an inspirational experience that I treasure to this day. Dead squirrels in living rooms, cheese logs on door knobs and stucco walls that would rip your flesh off.  The Raunchettes practice space was a sight to behold… one of the few bands at that time that deployed a wall of  Peavey Backstage amplifiers!  Betsty, if you’re of a mind to, contact us! We’d love you get you back in the ROC  and on the stage again.

So happy to have found this blog today and to see this post. Betsy was a good friend of mine for a short period of time while I lived up in Rochester. I gave her band tons of support, including airtime on my radio show on WRUR. I made her day when I introduced her to Joey Ramone. She melted.

Unless you also have that same ad from years back, that pic above is probably my scan I did a long time ago and had on my old website and now on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=10261589&id=687925367
(fyi: I don’t mind and actually think it’s cool)

If you ever hear from Betsy, please have her contact Spyder via my hidden email or via my Facebook page.

thanks and look forward to browsing the rest of your blog.

Sent you a message via FB… Stan

Betsy called me out of the blue back in, December or January (?). I had not heard from her since she and I hung out in LA back in the early 90s. She wanted to buy an amplifier. I wasn’t really able to talk right then and we didn’t end up talking again. But yes, she was calling from somewhere in Upstate NY.
